Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you quote over the phone?

From experience, we do not quote over the phone. This is because there are so many variants to a house clearance that its easier for us to visit, free of charge, to see for ourselves what the job will entail. We can then give you an honest quote that we wont change even if it takes longer than we thought. We can also check house access, fixtures and fittings, health and safety for our team and get photos of the rooms for reference.

  • What do you do with all of the ' stuff '?

Everything is brought back to our base and sorted by hand meaning we can sort what is reusable, recyclable or has officially come to the end of its usable life. We have some local links including our sister organisations, Furniture Bank, Kids’ Stuff and Long Table as well as Foodbank. We also have our own shop that is pay-as-you-feel to raise extra funds but also to encourage people to choose second hand first and to give what their individual budget allows. We then recycle all metal and materials as well as books, CD’s and even Records!

  • Who will turn up to do the clearance?

We have a dedicated full time team employed to carry out the clearances. You will know the names of the people attending before hand and they will have all of the information gathered at the quote so you don’t have to repeat yourself and they can get going. They will all be wearing branded uniform and will arrive in our fully branded van.

  • Do I have to be there?

We can do it however you want us to. We have been given keysafe codes, been sent keys in the post which we return, we meet customers to unlock and leave for the day and we call them half an hour before we finish so they can lock up after us. Flexibility is key and we are aware that some customers are living a long way away and we can remove that inconvenience.

  • What if you find a valuable item?

We pride ourselves on being honest and transparent. If we were to find anything of value above what we would normally expect we would ALWAYS tell you so you can decide if you wish to retain it or if you wish for us to have it anyway. The items would be like jewellery which look sentimental, large sums of cash or even old photographs found under something. We would return anything small by post if you were not present.

  • How does payment work for a probate clearance?

We keep it as simple as possible. We always invoice properly after we have completed a clearance. We would just need to have the solicitors details which we would invoice directly to (and CC you in) and they will pay the invoice with the money from the estate once all in order.
